Last year I moved through Beth Moore's study entitled, Living Beyond Yourself. It would be impossible for me to write out everything I learned during that study in this one post. It would be so incredibly long (and probably quite incomplete). That study was so enlightening for me that I have considered going through it a second time this year to further solidify what I learned. The Bible tells us that as believers we have access to nine distinct attributes of the fruit of the spirit. Notice I called them attributes of a "singular fruit". The Holy Spirit can produce through us one fruit with many qualities. Just like an apple can be large, green, sweet, crisp...etc. The fruit of the Spirit can be classified in many ways as well.
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law." Galatians 5:22-23
"LOVE the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and, LOVE your neighbor as yourself." Luke 10:27(NIV)
"...weeping may endure for a night, but JOY cometh in the morning." Psalm 30:5b(KJV)
"And the PEACE of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:7(NAS)
"Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and PATIENCE. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you." Colossians 3:12-13 (NIV)
"I led them with cords of human KINDNESS, with ties of love; I lifted the yoke from their neck and bent down to feed them." Hosea 11:4(NIV)
"How great is your GOODNESS, which you have stored up for those who fear you, which you bestow in the sight of men on those who take refuge in you." Psalm 31:19 (NIV)
"He will cover you with His pinions, And under His wings you may seek refuge; His FAITHFULNESS is a shield and bulwark." Psalm 91:4 (NAS)
"But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with GENTLENESS and respect," 1 Peter 3:15(NIV)
"Like a city whose walls are broken down is a man who lacks SELF-CONTROL." Proverbs 25:28 (NIV)
Just imagine what life on earth would be like if most believers started their day with a complete filling of the Holy Spirit. If the fruit of our lives matched that of the Spirit, how much more would we be in agreement with one another? Maybe not total agreement but I think at the very least we'd all attest that "against such things, there is no law."
