My two year old (like most) gets frustrated when things don't go her way.  I wish she'd huff a bit, maybe even pout and then move on.  No, she's got to scream and stamp her feet and generally says hateful things to whomever she's upset with.  Well, today I heard her snapping at her oldest sister over a plastic tea cup.  I went into the room and took her from it.  She screamed all the way to my bedroom (where I'd been sorting and cleaning stuff).  I placed her little chair facing the wall and sat her in it.  She continued to cry and scream as I told her she needed to be kind to her sisters.

I went back to work in the same room and after a couple of minutes she turns to me and says, “I be nice now.”  I walked over and sat on the floor next to her chair.  I was talking to her about using her words to be kind and not mean.  I thought I was getting through to her when suddenly she interrupts me and says, “Mommy?”

“Yes?”

“You have hair in your eyes.”  She was matter of fact and closed the statement with a big smile.

“Those are eye lashes, Dear, and you have them too.”  I echoed her matter-of-fact tone and then watched her reach up and poke herself in the eye to feel her eyelashes.

“Hmm,” she was thoughtful, “I like you.”

I chuckled, “I like you too.”
