I touched on this earlier in my “early riser” post but I felt it deserved it's on “spot” here. Every time my children pray for a need and it is met (usually right away) I find myself wondering where on earth my faith is sometimes. They pray; they believe fully that God will hear and He will answer. Most of the time, His answers come immediately.
I'm reminded of when we went on vacation last year and as we were nearing the beach, the rain was coming down very hard. As we came upon the condo the kids were sad that it was raining because they wanted to get out on the sand as soon as we got there. “Well, ask God to stop the rain for a bit so you guys can go out. If it's within His will, He will do it,” I said simply thinking they'd either not pray or would pray silently. Suddenly I see bowed heads in the back and my son leading, “Dear God, please stop the rain.” Minutes, and I do mean like two or three minutes later, it stopped and the sun popped out. They were thrilled and I had to remind them to thank God for it.
Yesterday they prayed for rain (we're rather parched here lately) and while it was a few hours before all the clouds rolled in and the storm to began, we had rain nonetheless!
Then there are the times they've prayed for a long time and it's been answered. A man we know fell through his roof a while back and sustained a head injury that left him in a comma for a while. Those kids prayed for him EVERY DAY that God would heal his head. About a year later he was back to work and back to church. Doctors didn't think he'd ever recover and many thought he'd surely never walk if he ever truly woke again.
I've noticed that my kids rarely make their prayers selfish wants, it's usually a need and they pray with an innocent belief in our God. I know I could learn a thing or two from these precious young prayer warriors. L and K are both believers and it's so wonderful to watch their “history with God” blossom through faith.
And He said to them, "Because of the littleness of your faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.
