We have smoke detectors in every room of the house.  Unfortunately this means some of them are located on vaulted ceilings.  One on such a ceiling is losing battery power; Thus, every thirty seconds it sends out a loud ((CHIRP)).  The only way to make it stop is to unplug it or replace the battery.  I can do neither at the moment because I am unable to reach the blasted thing.

So there it is, mocking me.  Evenly timed, high pitched, bursts of noise.  At least it's not doing what one of the others did last year.  Suddenly it would sound and we're talking frighteningly loud, heart-attack causing, earth shaking noice and it would go for a bit.  Then it would shut off and without warning, there it would be again.  So, I'm thankful it's just a ((chirp)) for the time being....a chirp that could make you go mad ((lol)) but hopefully not one that will keep the kids awake.
