A gal I know online was told recently that she was naive to believe that God cared about the mundaine details of her life. What a truly sad picture of God it paints to say “the little things” don't matter to Him. The God I know cares that I couldn't find my keys last night and I believe He protected them so I was able to recover them. I pray for good parking spaces when I'm driving through parking lots when I have all the kids with me. He has always provided them too. I mean a parking space, that's a pretty small thing to most people, but God knows it's a big deal to me.
It is unfortunate that so many seem to have such a warped and inaccurate view of God. I looked up the definition of naive and if it means I lack “worldly wisdom”, then maybe that's not such a bad thing to be called :o) I'd rather have “godly wisdom” any day.
I decided to look up some passages that show just how much God does care about our daily lives.
Luke 12
6"Are not five sparrows sold for two copper coins?[a] And not one of them is forgotten before God. 7But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.
(D) 22Then He said to His disciples, "Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; nor about the body, what you will put on. 23Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing. 24Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap, which have neither storehouse nor barn; and God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds? 25And which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? 26If you then are not able to do the least, why are you anxious for the rest? 27Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 28If then God so clothes the grass, which today is in the field and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will He clothe you, O you of little faith?
29"And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind. 30For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that you need these things. 31But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things[c] shall be added to you.
Romans 2
16in the day when God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel.
(if He cares not about our private lives - why then would He have any need with our "secrets")
Exodus 20
3"You shall have no other gods before Me.
4"You shall not make for yourself a carved image--any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; 5you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, 6but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
7"You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.
8"Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. 11For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.
12"Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God is giving you.
13"You shall not murder.
14"You shall not commit adultery.
15"You shall not steal.
16"You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
17"You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's."
(hmm, seems like He cares what we do in our lives to me)
Revelation 21
26And they shall bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it.[a] 27But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causes[b] an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb's Book of Life.
Hebrews 13
5Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you."[a]
Would you sacrifice your only Son for a group of people who's daily lives aren't significant enough to have your attention?
