Erik was out of town on business most of this week. He's home now and we're trying to readjust to the time difference. We were up very late the night he returned (flight didn't get in till after 10pm). I'm glad he's home. He was able to work from home yesterday and the kids loved having lunch with him. It was nice after several tearful nights without dad tucking them in. Erik is generally our “bedtime routine” parent. He does this to kind of give me a break in the evenings.
I will say that there is a big difference between him going out of town for a bit and him working extra hours in town. When he's in town but working odd hours, it throws our whole routine out of whack. Of course we do get to see him more but I think it is harder on me. When he's out of town, well, I just know he won't be there (instead of waiting, wondering when he will be) so I go on with our normal routine as best I can.
For those of you who live in California, we are totally jealous of your weather. It's been hotter than blue blazes here. I've been to California before and remember it being an amazing climate to jog in. I could run and run and run.
The kids made cards for Erik and we picked up a cheesecake at the store. He brought them t-shirts and me a mug. We're so glad to have him home!
