I think every year tends to have a "theme" to it...something in particular that sucks up your “spare“ time and thought process the entire year.  In the past we've had themes like "grief", "pregnancy", "college", "turning 30", "homeschooling", "moving"...etc.  For 2006, that theme was "finances".  When I wrote out my goals last year, I had no idea that finances would become the underlying theme of my year.  I rarely posted about it (for personal reasons) but it was there...all year long requiring more of me than I ever dreamed it would.  I have witnessed the Lord do some powerful things with that aspect of our life and I am so anxious for the day I can share the details.  Lord willing that will be by the end of this year.

The "sub-theme" of 2006 would be freezer cooking.  I think the reason these things jump out at me when I look back on the previous year is because they are two major changes in my life that continued all year long.  I began freezer cooking late last January and we began to tackle our financial issues in late February.  As though getting our money in order wasn't enough, we experienced another major change when my husband took a giant leap into the contracting world.  That's been one wild ride in and of itself.  It is my prayer that as we enter 2007, we would continue the good habits formed last year and add to them this year.   I don't know what 2007's theme will end up being but that isn't going to stop me from setting goals.
