About two years ago I designed a workbook using MS Excel to help me calculate my son's grades. I set it up like an actual grade book with a different worksheet for each quarter. I even have one sheet that displays a summary for progress reports and report cards.
Last year I tweaked and customized it a bit more. I spent hours on that workbook but I consider that a worthwhile investment. Setting up the kids' electronic grade books this year was a breeze and because I've already used it for two years, I know it works.
