Ok, so we began toilet training our youngest on Saturday - right in the middle of a "kidney stone journey" (you can read about that in the goals I posted today). Day one was quite painful for me and I wasn't sure I'd make it through the day. I almost gave up several times because I felt so terrible but I just did not want to put Jewel back in diapers. I think it went as well as could be expected under those circumstances, but in no way was she trained in one day like two of my others were.
Nor did she have it down by the end of day two. No, in fact, I think day two went worse than day one actually as far as making it to the potty is concerned. Perhaps we had more success on day one (which wasn't much mind you) because I spent most of the day in the bathroom myself lol. We did have the distraction of three other kids playing loudly in the small condo on day two and that may have hindered us some.
So, this is day three and as of right now, we are tied for hits and misses. You know what's funny, she tells me EVERY time, it's just that most times she's already begun to go when she does. She made it through the night and naps dry the last two days also (although she woke this morning because she was having an accident - I shouldn't have let her sleep in). I'm trying to take accidents and set backs in stride - she does seem to be trying. Hopefully we'll have some marked progress by the end of the week. Today has already been much better so far.
I can't believe this could be the end of diapers for us - wow! In some ways I'm sad about that and in others, not so much.
